Charities & NGOs ยท Cape Town, Western Cape

IRFSA is a small registered Non-Profit Organisation (NPO #064-904) and Section 21 Company that runs a humble shelter for abused, abandoned and battered women with their young children in Heideveld, Cape Town. This is the only Islamic shelter for abused women in the entire Western Cape.

IRFSA receives no government or corporate funding and survives on public donations, selling organically grown herbs and vegetables, and the sale of second-hand items from its community shop. In 2009, IRFSA assisted 54 women and 57 young children (ages ranging from 2 weeks to 17 years old); currently there are 10 women and 18 young children on the premises. IRFSA clothes, counsels, empowers, feeds, houses and financially supports its residents.

Donations of food, good second-hand clothing and shoes, salaah tops for females, crockery, cutlery, linens, pots and pans, electrical kitchen appliances and furniture are welcomed, as are financial donations.
